Background |
For some,
planning a special event is a nightmare. For others, it is an exciting opportunity to
orchestrate an exhibition of pomp and circumstance. Here are a few pointers you may find
helpful when planning your next event:
- Plan ahead. The more detail you
can put into the plan, the less you'll have to worry about on the actual day.
- Delegate as
much as you can on that day so you can be free to troubleshoot.
- Be everywhere during the event. You can often spot a potential problem before it happens or
correct something quickly if it already happened.
- Work with a team. You
can't do it all.
- Be available. Carry a
cellular phone or walkie-talkie.
- Take charge. Be prepared
to make decisions on the spot and take the responsibility for them.
- Be flexible. Things
don't always come out as planned. They might come out better.
- Have fun. If you look
stressed, you will likely make everyone else feel stressed.
- Know your limits. If it can't be done, it
can't be done. However, don't say "no" until you know.
